How does it works?

Seakeeper Ride controllers are mounted to your boat's transom, below the waterline. Using custom, proprietary inertial sensing hardware and software, the system understands how the boat is behaving in all three axes and commands deployment of the rotary blades to counteract pitch, roll, and yaw. As the blades are deployed, they create lift at the transom, managing the vessel's motion instantaneously.

WHAT IS IT?

Seakeeper is a computer-controlled gyroscopic stabilizer that eliminates up to 95% of boat roll, which causes seasickness, fatigue, and anxiety, on boats 23 feet and up.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

Inside a vacuum-enclosed sphere, a steel flywheel spins at speeds of up to 9,750 rpm. When the boat rolls, the Seakeeper tilts fore and aft (precesses), producing a powerful gyroscopic torque to port and starboard that counteracts the boat roll

KEY BENEFITS

  • Active Control| Seakeeper’s active control optimizes gyro torque, providing an unsurpassed level of performance. Unlike a passively controlled gyro, which must be turned off in the roughest conditions and/ or at higher speeds, the Seakeeper is effective at all speeds and can be used in all sea conditions.
  • Vacuum Sealed | Seakeeper’s vacuum encapsulation enables the flywheel to spin roughly three times faster, cuts flywheel weight by two-thirds, and halves power requirements. Moreover, because the critical components (flywheel, bearings, and motor) are sealed in a vacuum, they are isolated from the marine environment.
  • Innovative Cooling System | Patented cooling system enables the flywheel to spin at high speeds inside of the vacuum containment.

ABOUT THE COMPANY

Seakeeper is the world leader in marine motion control technology. Founded in 2003, Seakeeper invested in five years of R&D before introducing its first gyrostabilizer to the marketplace in 2008. Since then, Seakeeper has grown from a start-up operation to the worldwide leader in stabilization with products for boats as small as 23 ft. With annual growth and investment in new technologies, the company continues to expand its product offering, pioneering motion control and stabilization both at rest and underway for boats of all sizes. Seakeeper Ride, a Vessel Attitude Control System (VACS) and the first product deviation from its line of gyrostabilizers, launched in 2022 for boats up to 35 ft.
